Bariatric surgery is popular for a very simple reason: it is the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off long term for patients with morbid obesity, it also helps eliminate comorbidities and gives people back the lost self-esteem related to being overweight. However, it is a major procedure both physically and emotionally. It’s a permanent change of life. The stress related to surgery for weight loss can be important. But, there are only few things more frustrating than a failed procedure and having to do it all over again.

At Mexicali Bariatric Center we are specialists in revision surgery, that is, in correcting previous procedures that failed. However, we are also specialists in getting it right the first time. The benefits of not having to operate a second time may be obvious, but here we list a few of them:

  1. Lower risk in surgery. When we operate for the second time, the organism has already been altered and there’s  scarring. This implies a more difficult procedure in a longer operation and, consequently, with greater risks.
  2. Increased weight loss. Due to different reasons, mainly changes in metabolism, patients with a revision surgery lose weight more slowly and in a lesser amount. If we get it right the first time, the chances of reaching the goal are much higher.
  3. Lower recovery time. A second surgery forces the patient to be inactive for a  longer time, increasing risks. It is best that in the first attempt our patients can return quickly to their daily routine.
  4. Lower cost. It is obviously cheaper to have one surgery vs two.  That is not counting care, supplements, time off work, etc.

MBC is the national leader in bariatric surgery. With more than 13 years of experience and thousands of success stories, at MBC our goal is  that our patients are satisfied with their surgery in the first procedure.

Our advice is simple: always choose the best, get it right the first time.
